My Hourglass

A busy July.

First week is occupied with preparing for company workshop.

Second week is the workshop, and followed by some training program which uses up my weekend.

Third week is more training, three days and uses up my weekend, again.

Fourth week I need to prepare for engagement.

What an exciting month.

My old man is hospitalized due to 膽結石, and an operation is performed today to remove the 膽囊 and the stones remained inside.

Apparently the main cause of 膽結石 is due to fatty food. Yes, fat food, which my dad loves. The symptom gets worse with age, and just happened that over the last few days, the 膽囊 just gave up completely.

I went to visit my old man at the hospital today. He was in a coma for most of the day due to the anesthetic. After waking up his spirit looked high. He was a little upset when he learned that he might not be able to eat all the foods he loves, but then again, what’s more important, the food, or his health? The choice then seemed more simple and obvious.

Poor old man. Just a few days ago he was happy chewing on 鹽酥雞, looks like he needs to start learning to chew on carrot and celery now.

大阿姨, we all miss you very much.

Not busy at work, but other things.

I never knew it would get this busy.

在被震垮的瓦礫廢墟中，救難人員可以輕易地看見人類的至情至性。在四川省北川縣，搶救人員又發現一位偉大的母親，她弓著背護住只有幾個月大的女兒，自己早已氣絕身亡，但救難人員發現女嬰卻神奇地毫髮未傷，安靜地睡著。

北京今天出版的新快報傳誦這個感人的故事，在重災區北川縣，搶救人員在廢墟中發現一名被已房屋壓死的女子，她以雙膝跪地，整個上身向前匍匐，雙手扶著地以支撐身體，就像是古人行禮一般，但身軀已被壓得變形。

原本救難人員在狹窄的間隙中，伸進手去確認這個女子已經死亡，因此就決定轉往別處去搶救，他們走了幾步後，搜索救援隊的隊長突然大步地往回跑，邊跑還邊喊「快過來」。搜救人員又來到屍體前，費力地把手伸進女人的身子底下摸索，探了幾下之後，他即高喊「有人！有個孩子！還活著！」

於是搜救隊員小心翼翼地把女子周圍的砂石清開，然後即發現她的身體下果然躺著她的孩子，約莫三、四個月大，因為媽媽的身體幫她擋住坍牆，她竟然毫髮無傷，被抱出來的時候，還安靜睡著。

隨後，隨行的醫生過來替女嬰解開被子做些檢查，發現有一支手機塞在被子裡，醫生下意識地看了一下手機的屏幕，發現屏幕上顯示著一條已寫好的簡訊：「親愛的寶貝，如果妳能活著，一定要記住我愛妳。」這時，雖然是早就見慣了生離死別，但醫生仍怎麼也止不住眼眶的淚水，手機傳給在場每個人，看到的都為之動容不已。

Yes.

This simple three letter word, changes my whole life.

Today was a beautiful day.

I was a complete idiot today.

I am back from Turkey.

It was fun walking under the snow.

Ten below zero in Ankara, under the snow, outside the hotel entrance, I had a quick reflection of my life over the last three years.

Sometimes, coming out of a meeting with some potential customers, whether I was in Bangkok, Hanoi, Manila, Sydney or Istanbul, I would catch my reflection in the elevator doors, in a shirt, and a briefcase in hand. In a blink of a second, I would imagine myself as leader of this industry, shouting out orders, closing the deals, before I remembered who it was that I really wanted myself to be.

People often say, Why Simply Win When You Can Dominate?

I don’t want to just be better than someone, I want to be the best as who I can be.

I am happy to be back in Taipei.

It just could not get any worse.
