Our national holiday. Happy 10/10 everyone!
Happy Birthday!
To me!
As a b’day gift, I got myself a typhoon holiday tomorrow.
Expensive Computer Pickup
After more than two months, I finally purchased my new desktop computer. I also managed to save another NT$12,000 by “borrowing” a new 22″ from work. It worked out all good, but it wasn’t good enough.
On my way to pick up the computer, I got fined for double parking. A NT$1,800 fine, ouch. By the way, it was my first since started driving in Taiwan, but compared to the fines back in Australia, NT$1,800 wasn’t too bad actually.
Stupid stupid me…
No Longer Alone
I am so happy. From today on, I am no longer alone.
Back in my hotel room, at a rather less populated area near Tokyo called Ochanomizu, I noticed the Internet speed here was rather fast.
First I thought it was the new Google Chrome browser which made the difference. Then I noticed BT was working silently in the background. I opened it up and these were the figures at the time:
I have been using dial up back in Taiwan? This speed is incredible! The upload speed is faster than my average download speed in Taiwan, it’s just amazing.
This 2gb file suddenly finished downloading in a mere 15 minutes. Looks like I have something else to do tonight.
This morning boss came looking for me and informed me this:
You have been reassigned to another department.
The notice came very suddenly, and I was indeed surprised by the decision. Not that it wasn’t expected, but I just didn’t know the decision would be made so soon.
The change was a top-down decision, by big boss obviously. Boss told me it is a good thing, it is like a small promotion, but somehow I just cannot feel it. All I can see is more stress and more overtime work, and I do not see any additional benefits such as pay increase.
So here, I will be leaving the team that worked with me so closely for the last four years, and its hard not to feel sad. Not that I do not want to move on, but I just did not have much of a choice.
The only good thing I see in this change is challenge, and learn new things. I like challenge, but at least inform me earlier so I could get prepared!
A lot of changes are happening to me. Getting a car, getting married, and now new department and new objectives. Everything just seem so new to me.
Then again, I just hope everything can move on just fine.
A Very Big Gift!
A while back I wrote this post…
Almost six months later, now I am driving one.
When I first stepped into the driver’s seat, I was lost for words. I couldn’t not believe I just purchase my first, my very own car, a Honda CRV 2.4. Of course my wife contributed a bit, but the feeling is just fantastic.
Although I am happy, but not fully. Mum and dad doesn’t like the idea of buying a car at this time. I cannot say they are wrong. Parking rental, high petrol prices, insurance, service, and so on. These are like hidden costs that will just eat up my bank balance just as quickly as the 2.4 litre engine that eats up the petrol.
Mum, dad, I apologize. Perhaps my decision on purchasing a car was a selfish one, but I think it is well spent. Although a little out of my budget, but it does bring a lot more convenience to my life.
Please don’t be mad! I will pick up guys up from the airport when you guys come back in October!
I WANT THIS!!!
Now this is the kind of game I want to get. It is called EyePet. I cannot even describe how cool it is, just absolutely fantastic!
Good Movie?
This year I’ve seen way too many shit movies, such as Indiana Jones and Mummy 3, but this is funny, Tropic Thunder.
Ben Stiller is a pure clown, he doesn’t make idiotic jokes, but just funny funny, which I like. Just by viewing the trailer cracks me up, but why there isn’t any previews of this movie in Taiwan yet? Or isn’t Taiwan going to release this movie…? Mmmmm…
Happy Father’s Day
Happy Father’s Day, dad!
I am going to buy a car this month. I cannot wait anymore. I want my CRV…!
