Employee Stock Option

Got my employee stock option today, and it turned out to be a real surprise.

I got an option for 50 Qisda stocks with share price at NTD 32.80, which can be exercised two years later.

Last year I got an option for 20 stocks with a price around NTD 28.50 (can be exercised next year) and I thought that was a lot! This year they think I worth 50 stock options? My God, I am very happy.

Then again, I will only be REALLY happy if by the time I can exercise them and the share price has gone way up up up high.

Time for calculations…

For every NT 1.00 increase in share price, that is NT 1,000 per stock.

Thus, when I exercise 70 stocks two years later, with a 10.00 increase from 32.80, I get at least NTD 700k (not including the difference from NTD 28.50).

A 20.00 increase means at least 1.4 mil, a 30.00 increase means at least 2.1 mil, an so on.

Say two years later the share price is at least NTD 60.00, then I can buy an Audi A4 Avant 2.0T, in cash.

Then again, I am being over optimistic. What if the share price dropped by then? My options would be more than useless.

I have faith in Qisda, which I think they will do well. So what does this mean for me?

It means I cannot leave this company in the next two years.

Looking Good

Not me, but the new company.

Qisda, the new parent company of BenQ, closed the trade today at a daily stock market upper limit of 7% at NTD 37.50. This is the third consecutive day Qisda has closed the trade at daily upper limit. An increase of 20% share price in just three days.

The re-enlisted company is certainly looking good. Back to its root of performing ODM, with excellent track record in the past and from branded business, no wonder they are collected a handful of new orders since separating the two companies.

Maybe I shouldn’t be too optimistic, because I am not working for Qisda. I still work for BenQ, the smaller company that is UNDER Qisda. Anyway, I am sure we will benefit from them, but I guess it will take time.

Finally, there is something positive about working at BenQ again.

Stiff Neck

I have been experiencing severe stiff neck since Sunday night. It is unbearably painful.

It hurts when I walk.

It hurts when I sleep.

It hurts while I am on the bus and the bus accelerates or decelerates.

It hurts at this very moment while I type.

I went to the hospital today to find out what was wrong, and the doctor told me I have been having too much pressure at work, and need slow down a little.

Man, tell me something I did not know doctor.

New Job Title

I got a new job title today.

Manager.

It certainly sounds nice, but it has nothing to do with my pay at the moment.

Therefore, I can put it this way. It sounds good outside, but useless inside.

Finally, One More Day!!

Yes, I haven’t been updating in a while because I have been too busy stuck in Sydney. The good thing is, I can finally fly back tomorrow.

Quite frankly, the whole trip hasn’t been exactly great. It has gotten better, but never like what I first expected. The whole trip could have been a lot better if my boss hasn’t been too much of a prick.

They wanted me to say for a week I said OK.

After I got here they wanted me to say for three months. No way.

I said my rent in Taipei finishes on the 15th therefore I need to move out before then, they said OK, come back on the 14th.

What? Are you out of your fucking mind? I also need time to pack, clean and arrange mover you dumb fuck, tell me I can arrange that in one day????

Now they are telling me after I come back I might have to fly back to Sydney again, and this time really for three months.

Fuck you no deal. I am coming back early no matter what.

I mean, I don’t mind to stay here for three months if I am to stay in a more urbane area. Unfortunately where the company is located is like in a remote area off the east side of Sydney. It is a little like Clayton in Melbourne, where you do not get much except, houses, trees and nothing more.

Please do not get me wrong, I love Sydney. It is a great place, except the location of the company is just a little too remote for my liking. Perhaps I am more used to Melbourne city life, and the convenience of going to shopping malls and restaurants in 5 minutes, by foot.

Maybe I should rent a car.

Anyway, slowly but painfully, I did get to know this neighborhood a bit better. Hopefully it will get better next time I come back, but still, I hope not for three months.

Oh yah, last day tomorrow, I cannot wait to go back!

Three Months???

My boss asked me to stay here in Sydney for three month??? He must be out of his mind. There is no way for me to stay for three months, perhaps three weeks is the most I can stay since I still need to go back and move house sometime around the middle of July. Still, what am I suppose to do here for three weeks???

I think I will try to get back early. I seriously don’t see any reason for me to stay here for that long.

Land of Money Fiends

Company is complaining the cost in Australis is too high, and now I can understand why.

I arrived at the customs and got busted with two cartons of ciggies valued at NTD470 each. They confiscated the ciggies, and to get them back, no problem, AUD105.00.

I took taxi from airport to hotel, AUD115.00.

The hotel is OK but it is certainly not the best, but it is certainly the most expensive so far. By the way, they do not even offer tooth brush, and it is costing me each night, probably excluding GST, AUD198.00.

This place has no free internet (even Vietnam and Philippines do), and per hour is AUD9.90. One day unlimited is AUD19.90.

This place offers no complementary breakfast, and breakfast costs a mere, well, per person is, AUD14.00.

Australia is a land of money fiends.

Then again, like always, here is a picture of my hotel room.

My Room at The Grand Mercury Hotel

Man, I love business class. Actually, no, I didn’t take business class, I just have priority baggage. It does look pretty good hanging there though.

Business Class and Priority Baggage!

Me. Good night.

Strange Week Coming Up

Next week is going to be strange. I will fly back to Australia, well, not for holidays, but for work related trip. I will stay in Sydney, but I need to make my own way to Melbourne.

Company is stingy. They won’t let me have a direct flight back to Taipei from Melbourne, because I purposely delayed the trip for personal benefit. Gay.

Anyway, like always, I am under tremendous pressure again. I don’t like business trips. They send you and make sure you cannot come back unless you get the tasks done.

If this statement stands, then dammit!! Maybe I cannot come back.

New Toy

Well, not mine really, but it is a production unit for testing. Hopefully it can become mine for good, because after using it, I can never, ever, go back to the old crappy 15″ Dell I had been using for the last two and a half year.

Anyway, it is a new LCD monitor I get to use at work. It is one of recently released monitors, the BenQ FP93GW Senseye+photo. It is a 16:10 wide screen, slim bezel design, ultra-fast 5ms response time, contrast ratio of 700:1 and our exclusive Senseye+photo technology for consistent color reproduction.

My new monitor at work, a BenQ FP93GW Senseye+photo!

What I like about best is the slim bezel design, only a mere 12mm, and it looks absolutely gorgeous when you have a full screen wallpaper filling up the 1440 x 900 display. Too bad I cannot try any DVDs or at work.

My new monitor at work, a BenQ FP93GW Senseye+photo!

I like the logo too. Sweet.

God Bless

God Bless, my work colleague, but also a good friend, Kelly.

She is diagnosed with a stomach tumor with the size of around 15 centimeters long. Not much is known at the time, but we all certainly pray that it is nothing serious.

Now without her around the office does feel a bit different. I hope she gets a full recovery, and be back with us soon. I do miss her very much.
